About us

Welcome to Feeling Loopy hosted by Derek and Lori Gamradt.  After completing the 6,000 mile loop in a year on 2017-2018, we sold our beloved Donna Mae I and returned to the working world.   After a few years of work and a Pandemic, the lure of the wind and waves brought us back to the water.   This time with a new and slightly larger Donna Mae.  We hope you enjoy following our misadventures on our little blog.   We will only go out for a few weeks at a time and then back home to reconnect with families and friends before returning to our home on the water for some more fun/boat chores/excitement/stress/beauty/doubt/happiness...  We have plenty of room for you to join us!

What is the Great Loop?

The Great Loop is a system of waterways that encompasses the eastern portion of the United States and part of Canada. It is made up of both natural and man-made waterways, including the Atlantic and Gulf Intracoastal Waterways, the Great Lakes, the Rideau Canal, and the Mississippi and Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway.[1] The entire loop is approximately 6,000 miles long.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Loop
